#47 Sea Plane Dad/Daughter Adventure

My Dad taught me a lot about adventures. Growing up, we did lots of what we called "Dad/Daughter Adventures". Sometimes we went to play pinball, sometimes to shoot pool, once to go fishing, and even went to the race track.

But nothing will be as unique as the time when he and I visited a Beauty School located in kind of a rough section of Philly to get pedicures and facials when I was 8 months pregnant. Why did we go? Dunno. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I don't remember getting a facial -- but Dad swears we did. Maybe he had a more relaxing one since he didn't have 8 pounds of baby sitting on his bladder.

But I do remember the pedicures because in the middle of them, the receptionist announced the graduation ceremony was going to start. So everyone stopped working and we swiveled around to see a young, beautiful, very dressed up girl descending from the stairs leading down from the classrooms. She accepted her diploma, and dad and I joined the group in cheering for her accomplishment. I will never forget that day!

So, all that to say that we have a long history of doing adventures together.

He called me a few weeks ago and said, "You know what I would like to do for an adventure? If like to do a sea plane ride where they buzz the water".

Ok!!

We got to Jones Seaplane Adventures in Mt. Dora on a beautiful sunshiny day. We came prepared and donned our aviator hat, goggles and scarf then stuck a pipe in our mouths.

We were ready to go!

D'ya know that the pilot didn't even look twice at our gear? He must be used to people coming for a ride dressed like Amelia Ehrhardt.

He reminded us multiple times not to drop out phone while we balanced into a series of swaying floats to wedge ourselves in the rear of the plane.

Getting us settled in with our headphones and getting cleared from air traffic, we took off on the water, bumping over the waves and finally lifted off.

It was amazing seeing everything from the sky. The lakes were sparkling with sunshine, people were waving from the boats below, and we got a commentary of local sites from the pilot. The plane bounced around in a delightful way and we stopped down to buzz the lake just like dad wanted.

When we landed, dad asked the pilot if he had a hard time seeing over the unusually high dashboard. The pilot said, "well.... Yes".

He was a man of few words.

I loved doing this adventure with my precious daddles, as I call him.

But we had one more adventure during our lunch. They had pork rinds on the menu. Neither one of us had ever tried them before. Our came this gigantic plate of what I think was deep fried fat.

We tried one.

One was enough.

All in all, a wonderful day with the best Daddles a girl could ever ask for. I love you Dad!!! Where do you want to go next?
