#49 The Price is Right and smoking Cigars in Ybor!

Updated: Apr 8, 2022

Can't belive this is the next to last Badass Adventure! #49....it's crazy how quickly this project went by.

As in true Badass fashion, the two adventures talked about in this post were experiences that I would not have been part of if it wasn't for this project.

As a kid, one of the best part of staying home from sick was being able to watchThe Price is Right with Bob Barker ("Help control the pet population. Get your pets spayed or neutered"). I dreamed of being on the show - - getting to spin the big wheel, playing Plinko, watching the Alpine man climb the mountain, and bidding $1.00.

So when a bunch of friends and I found The Prices is Right Live, we decided to go.

What a fun night! It truly was just like the show -- same games, same sets, same music.

It was a weird emotional mix-- being desperate to be called up to the stage to play a game, and dreading having my name called because I have no idea how much a box of Rice-a-Roni and a container of Turtle Wax currently goes for. Luckily, and unluckily, I was not called and neither were any of my friends. But it was still a great experience, made even better by this amazing group of people who made me laugh with all their antics.

Later in the week, Dad and I headed to Ybor City, the "Cigar City" of Florida to celebrate his 78th birthday. We headed to The Columbia, the oldest restaurant in Florida for some delicious Ropa Vieja, Picadillo, and Flan.

Then we headed to a cigar store, watching the fellas roll cigars and picking out our choices in their humidor.

Guess what....I like the taste of cigars. Very much, actually. This isn't my first rodeo -- having smoked cigars at various times in my life. But this is the first one that I really savored. Maybe it was the cigar's smoothness. But most likely it was being able to spend time with my Dad -- slowly puffing on the cigar while discussing philosopy, human nature, and business practices.

Remember Daddles...this is our new tradition. Twice a year, we'll hit Ybor, get a cigar and a cup of Cuban Coffee, and while away the day. Love you so much!!!!

Oh, this is marvelous! Your relationship with your Dad: absolutely priceless! (No "Price is Right" on THAT!) Always so delighted to vicariously enjoy your experiences! I'm not sure you should stop at 50! You GO, Girl!
