#50: The Last Badass Adventure and End Credits

I can't believe it's over -- 50 Badass Adventures is a wrap. This project started back on July 24th, 2021 (Oliver's birthday!) when I challenged myself with this:
"Join me for a year of badassery, mischief, and adventure. I'm gonna be getting out of my comfort zone and trying a whole lot of new things I've never experienced before."
260 days later, I am proud of what I accomplished because I think I was able to accomplish just that.
But before I start getting sentimental about this experience and roll out the Badass Superlatives and End Credits, let me tell you about my last Badass Adventure.
One word kept symbolizing not only this project, but my life. That word is "Adventure". It has deep meanings for me in my family, where I was taught to get out in the world and experience what it has to offer.
Throughout my life, adventure brought me incredible things and is deeply symbolic to me. So, for my last Badass Adventure, what could be more meaningful than getting this word tattoed on me as a permament reminder of my purpose and my goal.
Getting a tattoo terrified me. Not because of the pain, but because of the permanence. Any of the other badass adventures that were done were reversible. Didn't like the ropes course? No big deal. I just won't do it again. Didn't like "dating a nudist". Whelp, no need to travel down that path in the future. But this -- there was no going back.
I wouldn't have done this before Badass, but doing this project has been so completely life changing for me and so meaningful that I realized that not only I was ready to get this tattoo, but that I MUST get this tattoo.
I headed to Amulet Tattoo shop in downtown St. Pete with some of by badass gang, coming with me for moral support, thank goodness. They kept me calm and prevented me from runing away. I didn't need to worry...the tattoo process itself was surprisingly easy. I won't say it didn't hurt...but it really was a ridiculously relaxing process. I even closed my eyes and drifted off for a bit. I felt like I was in great hands, and will be going back to Alex for my second tattoo (my hyper-realistic hot dog wearing pants).
The 50th Badass Adventure continued with joining more of my badass gang in several adventures down Central Avenue in St. Pete including:
Dirty Laundry Speakeasy -- where you enter what looks like a laundromat and walk through a washing machine to get entry to the disco bar
2-D Cafe -- where everything is drawn to make it feel ike a 2-D blank coloring book come-to-life
The Saint - Another speakeasy with a Catholic theme where you need to confess the "sin of the day" before being allowed in, being reprimanded for getting out of your seat by wandering nuns, and drinking a "Sloth" signature cocktail (lavendar oil bubble on top of a lemondrop martini) -- even though it was hard to decided between all the other 6 deadly sins themed drinks
Dr. BBQ - home of the "Ginormous Rib", "Kimchee Fries", and "Not You Nana's Frito Pie"
How amazing to know that this last adventure was such a fun night...enjoying my group of wonderful friends, in incredible St. Pete, with my brand new Badass Tattoo.
I will miss this project terribly. It gave me a new perspective on life and helped me realize that even ordinary things can become Badass Adventures.
But most importantly, more than anything, is the incredible connections with people that I got because of this project.
I was gifted with an incredible tribe of badass friends here that I know we will keep adventuring together with.
I have reconnected with dear friends from all different times in my past.
I got to adventure with my beloved family.
And I got incredible stories of people taking on their own badass adventures, telling me they were inspired to do so because of this project.
Without further ado, here are my Badass Superlatives and Supporting Players (everyone who joined me in a Badass Adventure). Stand up and give yourselves a round of applause:
